Greetings!
As much as it was an evening of friendship, the NYC Nite
turned out be an enchanting and absorbing one too. The Nite
featured a cornucopia of entertainment and fun at the
artistic
Fakhruddin Palace hall. Colorful is the only word to
describe the musical evening organised by Navelim Youth
Centre on 3rd October 2002 as part of their annual social
festivity.

SkyHigh (Goa) at their best...
There were many highlights of the night. Renowned
musical group from Goa, the SkyHigh, brought
specially for this event were welcomed to a warm
applause. They reciprocated in grand style providing
the people with superb entertainment of enchanting
world and Goan numbers. Their music was simply the
best Kuwait has heard in recent times.
Also featured for the night were the Scorpions
(Kuwait) who played some scintillating hits. The
night was filled with spontaneous dance to the
rhythmic music of these two bands.

NYC President greets everyone in attendance...
Navelim Youth Centre showed the ideal way to build
goodwill among Goans here in Kuwait and as President
Agnello A.S. Fernandes put it: to promote love,
affection and friendship among the community.
In his welcome speech, Mr. Fernandes thanked the
advertisers, sponsors and NYC's devoted members for
making this event a grand success. He also
appreciated the tolerance of the enthusiastic and
disciplined guests to the poor service meted out by
the hotel and their inability to cater to everyone
at times. He appealed to everyone gathered to bear
with the organizers as the crowd turned out to be
beyond the capacity of the Palace hall. Apart from
this hiccup, and a small hitch with the sound
system, the guests had a most enjoyable time during
the whole event. |

NYC King and Queen...
The incident which provided the definitive oeuvre
for the evening's presentation was the NYC King and
Queen contest. After a series of cat-walks and tough
questionnaires, the panel of 7 judges selected
Genevive Dias as the NYC Queen 2002. She was crowned
by NYC's President Agnello A.S. Fernandes.
The NYC Princess 2002 was awarded to Nisha Leslie
Braganza and was crowned by Steven Tellis,
Vice-President of the Centre. Hudson Fernandes
emerged as the NYC King 2002 in another tough
contest, while Julio Cardozo was crowned the NYC
Prince. The King and Prince were crowned by Nita
Fernandes and Mrs. Luis Fernandes (Al Shaya)
respectively.
Mr. Hazem Eisa Al Eisa, Managing Director of Hazem
Gen. Trad. & Contracting Est. and Executive Manager
of the Bank of Kuwait & Middle East was the guest of
honour for the evening. A galaxy of eminent
personalities were present. The versatile Lloyd
D'Souza was the master compere for the show.
